NEWSLETTER --- October 2007

1.  Welcome to all the new list-members from Germany and Holland (and of course the UK, Ireland, Canada and US too). You can read a German and a Dutch version of the whole newsletter being posted on my European site www.davenach.eu. Big thanks to my good friend Stefan Hesse & talented singer/songwriter Dion van Alem for their joint efforts (and their noteworthy German/Dutch cooperation by the way!) in helping me out with this. I hope to return to Europe sometime in 2008 and will keep you informed.

2.  As mentioned in my July newsletter, my wife Jen is pregnant and due in just a few weeks with our second child!  For those who are interested, I’ll post a newsflash and a few pics on the main website when the time comes.   I should also mention that I now have a “MySpace” site – and would invite you to be my “friend” and add comments if you like.

3.  In between travels, I have been fairly busy in the studio, finally finishing up “For the Fun of It”, a CD by Liz Bligan, produced by me and featuring several of my songs!  She came to Nachville in late August and did an amazing job cutting her vocal tracks, and her son Carl did some fine backing vocals as well.  It should be manufactured by November and I’ll put a notice on my site about how to get it.  I’ve had several “surprise” custom songs that I can’t discuss yet, but were a lot of fun to work on, and Bruce Kalter and I have a new song which we actually wrote in the same room when I was in New Jersey!  I’ll add it to the site when it’s finished. Looks like I’ll be producing a CD for a talented young singer/songwriter from this area named Britton Miller, more on that as it progresses. I am available to write custom songs for all kinds of occasions – with the holidays coming up soon, consider the gift of a one-of-a- kind completely original song!

4.  On the “live” front, I have two nice local shows coming up.  On October 1st, I’ll be playing for the Shalom School in Sacramento at their celebration for their new campus! It will be a trio show, with some excellent players from Davis.  Then in November I will be doing a house concert right in Davis, as part of a new series that N Street Co-Housing Community is starting up.  This will be a solo acoustic show and will feature a lot of songs from “Time Before the Fall” since I never really did a proper CD release concert here. Seating is limited so early reservations are suggested.Details about both shows are available on my main website.

5.  There are two jam-packed tours coming up this fall, one to the Pacific Northwest in late October (the 24th to the 27th), and one to the Northeast in mid-November (the 3rd to the 11th). If you live in WA, OR, NY, NJ, PA or nearby states, please check the website for all the details, as there are some new concerts and workshops still being added!

6.  Finally, last month I mentioned my youngest brother Michael, bass player and at-torney, and his upcoming Supreme Court Case (Oct. 2), but I wanted to mention my other brother, Jeffrey (a.k.a. the “Little Visitor”) who is a drummer and film-maker. He’s currently directing a movie called “Traitor” from a script he wrote a few years ago!
It features some great actors, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce and Jeff Daniels to name a few, and they are shooting in Canada, Europe and North Africa!  For more info see IMDB.
