close by The Loyalist's native town, Koblenz, where Jen's ancestor Adam Bower fled persecutions in 1764. Bower
was granted 300 acres of land in South Carolina by King George III. When the British were forced out of Charlestown
during the American Revolution, he had to move his family again. They finally arrived in Nova Scotia in 1783. Dave
sings of Bower's both merciful and also bitter fate in The Loyalist (on CD A Certain Distance). It was a thrill to see
Dave play this of all songs on this stage and his show broadcasted worldwide on DW's abroad satellite TV.
